Mickleham, Box Hill and Headley Heath Circular - AllTrails Gets your heart pumping. Some steep hills but not that hard. Planning to a do a part of this walk. The track forks at the big trees, take the left fork and continue along the wide track. Follow this path signed as the Stepping Stones walk and soon the trees on the right give way to extensive views across the Surrey landscape on the right. Walk down the steps to the track at the valley bottom. Continue on a broad grassy path up an open spur, with increasingly fine views of the heath and back across the valley to White Hill. A bit muddy and steep in parts, but in a good way - we felt we earned our fish and chips! Turn left at the T-junction, continue along this track. Hints: Use 'Print Preview'. The suggested place is the King William (01372-372590, hidden away on a path leading up to Mickleham Downs; it serves local beers and good home-cooked food and has an attractive terraced garden, but limited space inside. Nice woodland. We took the shorter option back via Box Hill tea room. One peeled off shortly before the King William IV pub to explore Denbies. Continue straight up. Two of us had a lovely dinner in the garden of the Stepping Stones and then walked to Dorking as an encore in the sunny dusk. Alternatively, take the path towards Swiss Cottage and turn right in front of its entrance. Trains: catch the 10.02 Dorking train from London Waterloo (Clapham Junction 10:12) arriving Box Hill and Westhumble 10.51. Box Hill & Westhumble is served by Southern trains from Victoria and South Western trains from Waterloo, both taking around 50-55minutes. Follow this path as it steadily descends and towards the bottom you will pass through a section of juniper trees (a type of coniferous tree) in an area known as Juniper Bottom.
